We know that wedding photography is a big investment – chances are, your wedding vendors are some of the biggest purchases you’ve made in your young adult life. With that being said, you may be asking yourself “hey Melissa, if I already paid thousands of dollars for a photographer to take my wedding pictures, why should I splurge any more than I have to just for some prints or albums?”
Glad you asked.
Here are just a few reasons you should invest in some wedding prints.
If you’re a human that has seen a “Do Not Touch” sign and then immediately had an uncontrollable urge to touch said thing, congrats, we’re the same.
Physical touch allows to to connect more with people, places, things, all that jazz. Tangible items are more sentimental simply because they remind us of actual, sentient things. There is an emotional response that occurs when we’re able to hold something, so imagine how that is amplified when that tangible-something is a photo of you and your beloved spouse.
Storytelling is second nature to us – everyone has a story to tell, and everyone goes through life trying to find the right way to tell it. Your wedding day is a chapter in your story, so it’s imperative that you give it its own physical space.
Selecting prints to frame or images to put together into an album in order to best tell the story of your wedding day enables you to relive that day every time you lock eyes with that collection of 5x7s or that coffee table album.
Art is subjective, and we know this because someone deemed a banana taped to a wall of $120,000 value, so people may also have some thoughts on wedding photography being an art. Not surprisingly, I say it is art, and every single person we photograph is a piece of that art. You hear that? You’re art. Show that sh*t off. Plaster your home with prints of you + your spouse, order 10 different albums – go nuts.
As b-e-a-utiful as that USB drive is, and as convenient as the cloud is, technology is unpredictable. The internet is forever in the sense that every now and then we get Facebook “on this day x years ago” reminders and it’s somehow always an ugly picture of you, but that doesn’t mean it is a reliable place to store your precious wedding day images.
Investing in high-quality, durable prints & albums ensures your favorite snapshots will a) always be accessible b) never accidentally get “deleted” and c) safe from any morning-coffee-all-over-laptop mishaps.
Generational heirlooms, anyone?
Your albums and prints will be passed down for generations, and you can actually witness trends go from in-style, to out-of-style, to retro & back again – and who doesn’t want to contribute to that?!
When you print images & design albums, you’re not just making them for yourself; you’re creating lasting heirlooms to be shared, admired, cried over & treasured for years to come. With that in mind, if you’re still a little hesitant about investing the $$, imagine splitting the cost with like, 30 friends, family, children, grandchildren, etc.
It’s priceless – and it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
