A Warm, Tuscan Welcome at Palazzo Ximenes | Shumita & Michael
September 11, 2019
We’re here! We’re finally here in beautiful Florence, Italy for Shumita & Michael’s (better known as Shumichael’s) wedding. Keeping in mind that lots of guests came from all over the world, Shumichael wanted to be sure their friends and family were properly greeted, fed, and entertained over the two days of wedding related events.
On the eve of the wedding, they hosted a welcome dinner at Palazzo Ximenes, a beautiful, historical palazzo where the common guest commentary upon entering was “I can’t believe this is just the welcome dinner!” We celebrated the (technically already married) couple, we danced, ate, and sang until we were properly dismissed from the premises. It was a blast, highly recommend. And now, some photo proof.
The dancing happened almost immediately upon arrival.
10 year-old Sam (pictured right) was very persistent in getting me to have some fun. He approached me several times, and in his adorable English accent he said to me “Are you going to put your camera down and dance tonight? I better see you dance!” This also occurred at the reception the following night, and I was happy to oblige post-cake cutting.
About halfway through the night, some speeches were made. Shumita & Michael thanked their respective families, their mothers said some seriously beautiful things (this trip was just 80% everyone crying & eating), and Shumita’s cousins made Michael take off his shoes and sing a song.
One night down, one to go! Tomorrow is the big day, so Michael: don’t forget the skincare routine we put together, & Shumita: don’t forget to tell me where you got your earrings.
